About
English/Colombian Vanessa Forero has been composing since childhood & professionally since 2004 - writing for film & TV. She won best score for sci-fi movie ABE, had music broadcast on major channels & cinema screens worldwide, worked with the Liverpool Philharmonic & had music picked up by Universal Music.
Brit-award artist Beth Orton selected Forero in a nationwide quest for UK composers for her writers residency, where she was encouraged to sing her own songs, not just write them. Her first time performing was there alongside Beth to thousands, press included, and she survived.
Forero continues to produce her own records - playing all the instruments herself, has toured the US, Colombia and a recent 16-date sell-out tour in the UK. She’s played from the backs of Colombian bars to live on BBC radio and the stages of Abbey Road studios.
Forero was recently featured on Ben Fogles: New Lives In The Wild, where we got to see her self-built home in the mountains of Colombia. She’s also co-author of the bestselling book written about her mother: "The Girl With No Name", which became National Geographic documentary: "Woman Raised By Monkeys", for which Forero scored part of the soundtrack.
With a sequel book, a movie & a new albums in the making, Vanessa is one to watch for.
